William was boorn on August 1st 1809 near the Red Bank, in South Carolina. He spent his childhood in Saluda CO.,Sc.He worked on a family farm,attended the Red Bank church, was home schooled, and playing with area children. He was married at the age of nineteen. He was the eldest of eleven children. He attend an academy in Sparta until he learned everything. When he was twenty he had a child and named him Charles .
